What about the Coronavirus?
Our No.1 priority is to stay safe, not get infected and not pass it on.
We never thought that the secluded little B&B we designed here would be ideal for Social Distancing. However, we are closed temporarily and will review updated government guidance on 13 April or earlier.
You can still book a stay for after then. All bookings will be fully flexible, so you can change your mind later depending on how the situation develops.
When we re-open for business, it will be with a difference. All guests will use self check-in & check-out. We will greet you only from a distance. We have always scored highly in terms of cleanliness, but we have upped our standards even more by making sure each room is empty for 24 hours between guests. During your stay you can be as isolated as you wish. We will let you know which hostelries are offering takeaway meals which you can eat in the comfort of your room or the BBQ area, weather permitting, and of course breakfast is always in the privacy of your room.
We do not encourage anyone to travel against government advice or good sense. However, when you need or want to be in this area in the future, we will be grateful that you are supporting a small business. Stay safe.
Where are you located exactly?
We’re in the little village of Nidd, just 4 miles north of Harrogate. We are close to main routes, but just far enough away to not hear any traffic. It’s a quiet and tranquil spot, but not off the beaten track. It’s ideal if you are travelling by car, but bus or train is an option too. Some have said this location is remote. Trust us – it’s not, we are pretty sure they got lost on the way. See our location page for more details about how and where to find us.
How far are you from Ripley Castle?

Is it best to book directly through your website?
Definitely. We are proud that our photos and our website are totally accurate. We have no control over other sites. You will always get the best rates and most favourable T&Cs by booking direct.
Our booking page is completely secure and encrypted. If you prefer not to enter card details, you can just call us to book.

Do you have parking?
Yes. Each room has designated free parking right outside your room, so no need to awkwardly drag your luggage down a street, along a corridor or up any stairs. All rooms are at ground level.
How do I get a copy of the Harrogate Shopping Guide?

Do you have wifi?
Absolutely, and we’re pleased to say it’s superfast wifi! You get unlimited use on as many devices as you like. The Smart TV is also wifi enabled so you can use it as a browser. You’ll find the password in the Room Book.
Do you offer transfers?
As we’re a two-person show we can’t always guarantee transfers (for instance to the train station, conference centres or events), but in most cases, we can figure something out. Just let us know where you need to be and when.
Do you have daily housekeeping?
Yes. There’s no need to worry about making your bed or washing up, as we’ll tend to your room every day with full housekeeping and restocking the breakfast pantry. We’re pretty flexible types, but we need to finish housekeeping and restocking by 3pm every day, so we do need access to your room at some point.
What's breakfast like? Is it included?
Absolutely, breakfast is always included in the price!
We don’t have a dining room, so you won’t be rubbing shoulders with strangers in the morning over a traditional fry-up. We designed a breakfast pantry in each room which is well-stocked with a continental breakfast inclduing boiled eggs. We lived on the continent for years, so we know what we’re talking about and we’ve added a few Yorkshire twists. You can just help yourself anytime you please or have breakfast in bed. No need to decide anything the night before and the two of you don’t even have to eat at the same time. Have a look at our breakfast page for more information and a menu. If you like people watching over breakfast, then keep your eyes peeled instead for any passing wildlife. Please let us know in advance if you have dietary needs and preferences – we can handle just about anything.
Do you provide any other meals?

Is your accommodation suitable for business travellers?
Yes. There are many conference facilities in Harrogate and surrounds, so we often have business travellers passing through. We have superfast wifi, good lighting, USB charging stations, good mobile phone signal, endless coffee, and a table conveniently located next to power sockets so you can charge your laptop as you work. Plus your parking space is right outside your room. We think it’s properly nice.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. Please let us know when you book through our site and we’ll make sure your wishes are catered for – gluten or dairy free, allergies. A vegetarian or vegan breakfast is no trouble and we have our top picks for eating out too.
Does your B&B have spa facilities?
Harrogate is also one of the original spa towns – so give the Turkish Baths a try. We can highly recommend it. As we’re a small operation we don’t have any spa facilities onsite ourselves, but conveniently, there is one next door, so our guests can book in for massages and other treatments. Are there any small shops nearby?
There’s a small village shop in Ripley a mile away which opens bright and early or endless shopping options in nearby Harrogate or Knaresborough.
Are your reviews true and honest?
Emphatically yes. Almost all our reviews are on Google, TripAdvisor or Facebook – we then add all of those to our Reviews page so they are in one handy place. Once in a while, guests email comments to post as reviews on the site instead of posting a public review. We can tally every single review to guest names and date of stay. It’s quite shocking that some people in the world actually do post reviews that are fake or in return for money.
How safe is the area?
Yes. We are located in a very safe neighbourhood with an almost non-existent crime rate. It has a lovely local feel, where everyone looks out for each other. The property is well lit and you can park right outside your door. We recommend you lock your doors, but that’s a standard safety precaution.
