Start your day the perfect way with a proper breakfast…
start your day the right way
Start your day whatever time you want. No need to decide the night before. This is a proper continental breakfast, not a traditional fry-up. We know it’s proper because we both lived on the continent for years.
You’ll find a wide selection of breakfast goodies in your in-room pantry, just help yourself. Ease yourself gently into the day in your bathrobe if you’d like. A #BathrobeBreakfast – it’s what sets us apart. And just perfect if you need to eat bright and early. There’s scope for the odd late-night snack too.
Your breakfast pantry and fridge are fully stocked with everything you need for breakfast in your room. If you are staying in OAK, you might fancy breakfast al fresco, but perhaps not in your bathrobe!
You’ll find crumpets, fruit, cereals, yogurt, charcuterie, cheese, you can make boiled eggs and soldiers. And much more besides. We like to have choices, so naturally we offer vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free breakfasts as well.
The teas are all from Taylor’s of Harrogate – owners of the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms and producers of Yorkshire Tea. They are renowned tea and coffee specialists in Britain. Coffee addicts have a Nespresso machine to play with, and we have ample supplies of coffee pods for you.
If you have any special requests, let us know. We will do our best to accommodate them.

Briony & Andy, Leeds – OAK
Lovely escape to the countryside, quiet location. Our room including ensuite shower room was decorated and furnished to a very high standard. We enjoyed our hearty continental style breakfast which offered a wide choice of food. Our friendly hosts made us feel very welcome.
Janice & Hector, Perthshire – OAK
Stayed 2 nights at The Vicarage in Nidd when visiting the Great Yorkshire Show. What a lovely tranquil place. Bedroom standard was excellent (wonderful shower), almost boutique standard at an affordable price and the breakfast setup fitted our needs perfectly as we had an early start. Eileen & Robin were lovely hosts. You can tell that this business is very personal to them both. What a gem of a find! We look forward to returning to the Vicarage someday.
Meet your Hosts
We’re not the types to splash our faces around the internet
Our travels around the world have taken us to dozens of countries, including Germany, France, South Africa, Cyprus Hong Kong
The house we chose to make our home dates back to 1679 and used to be the vicar’s residence. We did a radical redesign on the house and brought it into the 21st century. The stables next door were looking a little dilapidated when we arrived, but we immediately spotted the potential. After a significant renovation, we converted the building into three purpose-built guest rooms and The Vicarage B&B was born. Of course, that’s only a fraction of the story.
Thankfully our skillsets also lend themselves nicely to running a boutique bed and breakfast. Eileen has a lifelong passion for sumptuous fabrics,
We also love talking to people, which in our opinion is one of the greatest joys of managing boutique accommodation. We’ll happily chat to anyone, but much prefer listening to our guests. We can do both in German, French
Nevertheless, we know when to keep our distance too. If you’re the type who would rather enjoy the peace of the countryside on your travels, we’re all for that. Being on hand when you need us and being invisible when you don’t is our signature style (
We live a stone’s throw from the guest rooms, so you can give us a shout if you need anything (perhaps not literally; mind the serenity) and we can usually be there in a jiffy. We give you our mobile number on arrival, so you can simply send us a text if you prefer.
Now you know a bit about us, take a look at our beautiful rooms. Pick your
We look forward to seeing you at The Vicarage soon!

Oak is the room closest to the main house with windows to the east and south. It has its own courtyard and barbecue.
Ash is in the middle of the mews building and is the largest of the rooms with a little more floor space and a high ceiling.
